Wait, I forgot…gotta remove all this built on crud first. Okay, all cleaned up! Here’s a couple different views of that. Next, I put a plastic trash bag over the front rails and proceeded to spray the Rustoleum automotive primer.
Next, I moved on to pulling out the shock on the passenger side. I put both shock bolts side-by-side in this next photo to show you that the threads are badly damaged on the passenger side bolt. This will have to be re-threaded or possibly even replaced. Always check your hardware when doing a project like this, that way these types of problems can be properly dealt with accordingly.
With the passenger side shock removed, I can now begin to pick away all the grease and road grime. Okay, got a lot of that stuff off now. Time to spray some primer on that side. Lastly, I sprayed a couple of quick coats of yellow Rustoleum gloss protective enamel on both king pins. I’ll come back and spray the orange and red later.
