Day 40 – I Screwed Up!

I readjusted the torsion bars yet again. Here you can see the swing plates positioned just above the bottom mounting hole. I screwed up again though…you see, I neglected to add a dab of grease on to each end of the torsion bars (the splines). I also neglected to put any grease on the rubber bushings that rest inside the torsion mounting plate.
So, I’m going to have to take both sides apart again and grease them up. I also learned that the spring plates don’t really have to be positioned just above the hole as I mentioned above. That’s only if you are mounting the weight of a VW body onto the chassis. Well, since I’m not physically going to do that, I can reposition these spring plates so that they are more on a equal plane. Not today…maybe tomorrow.
