Day 19 – Installing the Horns

I bought this set of dual horns from Harbor Freight Tools. They were fairly inexpensive and I thought they would fit my application. In the book, ‘How to build a Dune Buggy by Earl Duty’ there is a few pages where he chooses to install the horn before much of the other really necessary stuff. So, I though well, why not…I could do the same.

I bought a three foot section of Aluminum x 1 inch flat bar from Home Depot. I’ll use this aluminum to make up horn brackets. The brackets that come with the horn would not work well in my application. I used a sharpie to trace the outline off the original brackets. Cut the pieces, shaped the edges on a grinder, now drilling the mounting holes. Yep, they’ll work! Ready to mount the horns now. And, the horns are mounted, check!

Here are the pics.
