Day 23 – Removing Rear Hubs / Trailing Arm Prep

Just cut off the brake line, about to pop that spring clip loose that holds the rubber line to the brake line junction. I want to remove all that I can so I can come in later and use my wire wheel to clean the trailing arm up and prep it for paint. Next, I sprayed penetrating oil on the bolts so they will come out a bit easier. Used my breaker bar on those bolts to free them up. Only four bolts hold the drum onto the trailing arm. I hit them with penetrating oil first before I used the breaker bar…came right out/off. Now that the drum is separated from the trailing arm, I can take a look at the bearings. They are all going to need to be replaced anyway.

Okay, now on to the passenger side rear. I’ll cut off that brake line and sling it up to work on it. Used my axle tool here to remove the axle nut. I busted out a chunk of the drum beating on it. Not good. I kept beating on this drum but, couldn’t get it to budge. I’ll have to come up with an idea to remove the drum or, have somebody help me with it.
