Day 46 – Gas Tank Install

Well, no better way to learn how to weld, then to just jump in and try to do it. I’ve watched several youtube videos on MIG welding, so that classifies me as a ‘advanced welding expert’. God help me! hehe 🙂 Alright, let’s do this!
First thing I had to do was set the tank where I wanted it, then mark were I was going to weld the brackets on. So, I did that. I used my Harbor Frieght 4″ Grinder to clean off the paint where I was going to weld to. Then, I used a welders magnet to hold the first gas tank bracket in place. The first bracket went really quick and easy. After I had welded it, I tapped it with a hammer to ensure the weld was good. Then I used my grinder and cleaned the weld up.
Ok, next I had to remove the tank bands off so I could paint them. Since I’m only using three colors, Yellow goes on first. All finished with the paint. Turned out pretty good! 🙂
